Innocence

It’s probably hard for us all to remember the time when Duck Amuck actually thrilled us on every level… Overexposure (WB49, the old Buffalo WB network affiliate, played this at least once a week) and academic slobber easily destroys the enjoyment of any film, and this milestone definitely has suffered for it. I can’t tell you how many people have told me, “Yeah, it’s brilliant, but I have to go another ten years without seeing it again to appreciate it.” Fortunately, this doesn’t ruin the fact that there will always be kids green to this cartoon, and love it, for years to come… Wouldn’t it be cool to have that innocence again?

  1. Wow. I know I danced to the T&J theme as a toddler EVERY single time I heard it, but…That’s just insane.
Adorable, though. Cartoon geeks in the making? ^^

  2. Frankly, I would easily put “One Froggy Evening” before “Duck Amuck” in this regard. Yeah, “Duck Amuck” is overplayed too but not nearly as much as “One Froggy Evening”. That cartoon is everwhere. They even made a sequel to it and made the originally nameless Michigan J. Frog the mascot for the WB Television Network. And, yeah, it was shown on TV at least once a week no matter the network too. THAT is one cartoon that is burnt into my brain. “Duck Amuck” I, at least, can still bring myself to watch regularly.

  3. I agree that Duck Amuck has been overplayed over the years… but anything anyone else says about it isn’t going to ruin it for me, it’s still just as good as it always has been.

It would be cool to have the experience of watching this and many other great Warner Bros. cartoons for the first time again though.

  5. Ah–I love that these girls were introduced to classic cartoons. Even better is that they know every single line. This is a great cartoon to introduce young children to Looney Tunes. I remebember being enchanted with it for years.
The slightly older child is a riot to watch!

  6. Duck Amuck is probably neck and neck with Rabbit Fire in terms of over exposure.
